The band, ‘Crystal Castles’, always made efforts to create mystery about themselves. Ethan Kath in particular was rarely seen looking directly at the camera.  He was often shrouded in a hood with a bandana almost hiding his eyes. Kath gave false names and had an extremely hidden persona.

In 2017, Alice Glass, the singer of Crystal Castles, added #metoo to a tweet.  She accused Ethan Kath of sexual, mental and physical abuse.  In 2017 the Toronto Police Service confirmed that Kath was the subject of a currently open Sex Crimes Unit investigation.
